Abstract

Traumatic winging of the scapula is a rare entity.
Since first described by Velpeau in 1837. various operation to correct weakness or paralysis of the shoulder has been suggested.
We experienced three cases of winged scapula. In two cases, surgical correction was performed by Whitman¢¥s technique in which a fascial sling is used to replace the loss of Serratus Anterior muscle and in one case, by Chaves method in which the Pectoralis Minor was transfered to the vertebral border of scapula.
Postoperative results were relatively satisfactory.
